Bobcat, the construction equipment manufacturer, has launched the world’s first all-electric skid-steer loader, the S7X, with zero emissions. The S7X is powered by a 60.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that drives the electric motors and ball screw actuators for lift and tilt capabilities, enabling instantaneous torque up to three times greater than that of conventional loaders.
The loader’s electric powertrain is strong and produces remarkable performance characteristics. It outperforms its diesel-powered counterpart and balances sustainability and performance with zero emissions, making it an eco-friendly option for construction and landscaping applications. With little vibration and almost silent operation, this skid-steer loader provides operators with a comfortable and smooth experience.
The S7X can run up to 8 hours on a single charge, which is sufficient for most operators to complete a full day’s worth of work. It takes around 10 hours to charge completely. In terms of safety, the S7X comes with features such as a reverse camera, strobe light, backup alarm, and a host of other options to ensure the safety of operators and others on the job site.
The S7X follows Bobcat’s previous concept machine, the RogueX, which explored the capabilities of electric power, autonomous operation, and dual lift-arm geometry. According to Joel Honeyman, Doosan Bobcat, vice president of global innovation, “As the inventor of the original skid-steer loader, we are excited to take the machine that created the industry and reinvent it all over again.”
Bobcat has been committed to innovation and sustainability for years, and the S7X is the latest example of the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The all-electric skid-steer loader is expected to be well-received in the construction industry, where companies are looking for eco-friendly options to reduce their carbon emissions.
In conclusion, the launch of the world’s first all-electric skid-steer loader, the S7X, is a significant milestone for Bobcat and the construction industry. The S7X offers impressive performance, zero emissions, and a comfortable and smooth experience for operators. With the construction industry looking for eco-friendly options, the S7X is expected to become a popular choice among construction companies.
