Fires seem to be the bad luck charm for Samsung. After the Note 7 fiasco, one might imagine things could not go any worse than that, but it did. All prepared for the Galaxy S8 launch, a Singapore Samsung store caught fire just a day ahead of the launch.

A Reportedly, it was just a small stockroom fire, but the cause is unknown. A Samsung spokesperson said, “We are currently assessing the property damage and working closely with authorities to determine the cause of the fire. The store will remain temporarily closed during this period. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused.”

The global recall of the Samsung Note 7 in the last year has already cost the company about $6 billion. That is not all; the company even had to recall 2.8 million washing machines after explosion complaints. The Samsung S8 seemed to be the revival of the company in the phone market and a compensation of the loss it incurred in the previous year, but that appears to be in some kind of trouble as well.

Samsung also got caught up in a corruption scandal and apologized to its shareholders over both the Note 7 losses and the corruption scandal.

The phone will be unveiled in New York today as the fans anxiously await.
