This New Robotic Arm Is Taking Over Gas Stations In The UAE

ADNOC, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company has just recently unveiled a new and latest innovation which primarily aims at changing as well as advancing the refueling experience. A robotic arm has been designed by this company which can refuel vehicles precisely in a mere few seconds. The arm automatically opens the car’s petrol flap, twists and removes the cap and fills it very easily.

An app accompanies this innovation which lets you know and ensures that you have the precise amount of fuel that is required for your journey. This overall, system is developed to not only be rapid and quick but also prioritizes environmental sustainability as well as minimizing the risk of spills.

After undergoing extensive development for over a year, the robotic arm is engineered to autonomously open the car’s petrol flap, remove the cap, and execute the tank refill with remarkable speed and accuracy. Complementing this innovation is the ADNOC Fill & Go app, which allows customers to select their preferred fuel type and specify the exact amount required for their journey. Upon arrival at an ADNOC station, customers can initiate the refueling process through a user-friendly touchscreen or smartphone interface.

Equipped with advanced sensors and cameras, the robotic arm ensures precise alignment of the nozzle while closely monitoring the operation for safety and efficiency. Once the refueling is complete, the arm swiftly retracts the nozzle, enabling customers to promptly resume their journey. This initiative aligns with ADNOC’s overarching five-year strategy aimed at enhancing the practicality of car refueling and optimizing worker productivity, particularly in harsh outdoor conditions.

“A first in the region and first to be certified and tested to operate during the hot summer climate. This step forward reflects our unwavering commitment to service excellence. This technology will be used in support of existing staff. Boosting productivity and reducing wait times,” they announced.

The current pilot project, taking place at Reef Island in Abu Dhabi, serves as a testing ground to gather essential data and refine the robotic arm technology before its full-scale implementation across the company’s network in the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, ADNOC has introduced the region’s first AI-personalized refueling experience through its Fill & Go app, further enhancing customer convenience and satisfaction.

The implementation of both the robotic arm and the Fill & Go app effectively tackles a range of challenges linked with traditional refueling techniques, notably lengthy wait times and safety apprehensions. ADNOC is poised to achieve full operational deployment of the robotic arm by year’s end, signifying a noteworthy milestone in the progression of refueling technology.

Moreover, ADNOC’s dedication to innovation and technological progress has garnered acclaim through accolades, affirming its leadership in the energy and utilities domain. Looking ahead, artificial intelligence and technology will persist as cornerstone elements of ADNOC’s customer-focused approach, serving millions of individuals across its expansive network of service stations each month.
