This New Fridge By LG Can Change Its Colors – And It Has Built-In Bluetooth Speakers

LG has just come up with a funky fridge-freezer with color-changing LED door panels that flash different colors depending on mood and occasion.

This home appliance is called ‘MoodUP’ and is being displayed at IFA 2022 in Berlin this week.

Or users can select a gentler color setting of pale yellows and browns as well.

MoodUP is also fitted with a built-in Bluetooth speaker, so the flashing can be synchronized to great music.

‘The MoodUP refrigerator is a highly-evolved home appliance that can change colors to match users’ moods and enhance the kitchen environment,’ said Lyu Jae-cheol, VP for LG Electronics.

‘Bringing color, music, and convenience to the kitchen, and incorporating LG’s cutting-edge technologies and innovative design features, this unique refrigerator demonstrates our continuing commitment to delivering a better life at home.’

The fridge is divided into four sections – two fridge sections at the top and two freezer sections at the bottom.

In the top right section, one of the two fridge sections has LG InstaView, which lets users see inside by knocking, although it can also flash colors like the other three panels.

Through the LG ThinQ app, users can choose from 22 colors for the fridge doors at the top and 19 colors for the two freezer doors at the bottom.

They can choose the settings according to ‘Season’, ‘Place’, ‘Mood’, and ‘Pop’.

As an example, Pop makes the fridge panels flash rapidly in a range of bright, vibrant colors, perfect for a house party.

Seasons displays colors depending on the current season.

Mood ‘elicits a feeling of well-being using soft, soothing colors, LG said.

When the refrigerator’s door sensor detects that the fridge compartment has been left open for too long, the panel on the door left open blinks repeatedly.

And when the MoodUP’s motion sensors detect that someone is approaching, both panels blink as a kind of ‘welcome’, LG said.

At IFA 2022 this week, LG has a massive booth to showcase new products, from TVs to gaming monitors and smart home solutions.

Pride of place at the booth is the world’s largest OLED TV with an ‘awe-inspiring’ 97-inch screen – about the size of a double bed.

This year’s IFA runs from September 2-6 and MailOnline is attending the show, bringing you all the latest news.
