Russia has taken delivery of a new batch of advanced fighter aircraft as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its tactical aviation capabilities. The aircraft are expected to support both air superiority operations and long-range strike missions.
The delivery was carried out by United Aircraft Corporation to the Russian Aerospace Forces, though the number of jets in the latest batch was not disclosed. The transfer forms part of state defense procurement plans aimed at maintaining operational readiness, according to Defence Blog.
The aircraft involved is the Sukhoi Su-35S, a heavy multirole fighter designed to perform a range of missions. These include air-to-air combat, interception, escort duties, reconnaissance, and precision strikes against ground targets at extended distances.
Powered by twin afterburning turbofan engines, the Su-35S can reach speeds of up to Mach 2.25 and has a reported operational range of approximately 3,600 kilometers without refueling. It is capable of carrying a payload of up to 8,000 kilograms across multiple external hardpoints, allowing it to deploy a variety of weapons systems.
The aircraft is equipped with advanced avionics, sensors, and maneuverability features intended to enhance performance in contested airspace. Its design enables both defensive and offensive operations, including protection of airspace, support for strike missions, and engagement of aerial threats such as drones and cruise missiles.
Russian officials have described the Su-35S as a central component of the country’s air force, particularly in maintaining combat effectiveness and supporting frontline operations. The platform has been used in recent military activities, where it has been deployed for patrol and escort roles.
The continued production and delivery of the aircraft indicate sustained investment in modernizing the fleet. Officials have emphasized efforts to maintain manufacturing output through optimization of production processes.
The development comes amid broader efforts by multiple countries to upgrade air combat capabilities with more advanced and versatile aircraft systems. The Su-35S remains one of Russia’s primary assets in this area, combining speed, range, and multirole functionality.
