Did you know that in addition to all those “regular” things that Facebook can do, it can also help you send your money? And it’s easier than it sounds.
Before you begin using Facebook to send money you need to ensure you have set up Messenger Payments option on your messenger and added your credit/Debit Card information.
Enter your Debit card details and other required information and setup up a private PIN to prevent unauthorized payments.
Here’s a short video on how to setup messenger payments:
All you need to do now is to sign into your Facebook account and access your facebook messenger.
Next, you need to start a conversation with the friend you want to pay.
If you are using Messenger:
Tap the ‘$” icon and enter the amount you want to send.
A pop-up window will ask you to enter the amount you’re paying or requesting and the purpose of the payment. Note: You can transfer money to/from other Facebook users only.
Next press “Pay” to initiate your transfer. If you don’t see that pay icon, look for a plus sign to expand all the available options.
If you are using facebook web:
Open a new message to the friend you want to pay. Find the “$” icon and follow the above steps.
The person you’re sending money to or requesting money from will get a notification on their facebook. If it is a payment request, they can then accept or deny the request. If they deny it, you’ll get a notification of the same.
Facebook does not hold onto the money, but your bank might take a few days to show the payment in the receiver’s account.
Pretty simple, isn’t it?
