Finally some good news, though take this with a grain of salt as this mostly depends on how better the situation with coronavirus gets. Oh well, where would we be without hope? The Consumer Technology Association or CTA has just announced yesterday that its biggest tech conference is finally returning in Las Vegas in 2022.
The Consumer Electronics Show or CES is the biggest tech conference right now on the planet. Sadly, this year’s CES was announced to be all digital which took away a lot of the beauty out from the conference. Seeing the biggest tech companies gather together in person to unveil their latest dope tech was a sight to behold. Something whose value we only appreciated after we lost it.
According to Gary Shapiro, President, and CEO of the CTA, in an announcement “We’re thrilled to return to Las Vegas – home to CES for more than 40 years – and look forward to seeing many new and returning faces”. The group already had plans to make 2022 an in-person conference but those were speculations at best. This seems like a solid announcement given that the coronavirus situation only gets better and not worse.
Other conferences like IFA 2021, are also returning to the in-person format this year. Is it too soon? Only time will tell. We will all know if the cases spike after one of these events take place. Though I am sure proper safeguards will be maintained.
CES 2022 will be held on 5th January and will run through 8th January, the media days being on the 3rd and 4th as usual. The upcoming conference will be a hybrid event, with events set to take place both physically and digitally depending on the preference and availability of the attendees. Confirmed attendees will include major tech companies like Amazon, AMD, AT&T, Dell, Google, Hyundai, IBM, Intel, Lenovo, LG, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Samsung, and Sony.
The CTA says that CES 2022 will be following the CDC’s coronavirus safety guidelines, along with state and local guidelines for Nevada and the city of Las Vegas to ensure a safe event for attendees.
