Multipod Studio is a French company that has created a prototype for PopUP house – a peculiar and unique form of house that is constructed in the same way LEGO houses are built. The idea behind this contraption was quite simplistic; come up with means of building a house that is low-cost, well-designed and energy efficient. The answer came in the form of PopUp house.
The PopUp house is quite interesting since it is fully customizable. It also allows the user to order a house online and based upon the materials’ quality, the cost of the house ranges from $1200-1900 per square meter. Apart from that, the company also dispatches a team of experts along with building instructions that cost another $1,640.
Co-founder Corentin Thiercelin said, “A PopUp House can be whatever you wish it to be: a small and cozy country lodge, an urban two-story house, or a spacious open office.” All components of the house have been created by making use of wooden panels that are recyclable. The wooden panels can be placed together in the same way as LEGOS are placed when building something. All that you need for holding the panels together is some wood screws. So, you only need a screwdriver for building this home.
It takes about 4 days for setting it up and is also quite time efficient when it comes to taking it down. So, if you’re looking to make some design changes or want to altogether change the layout, it would take you only a week. The prototype that has been created features a dining area, a kitchen and a terrace that has been connected to the living room, a master bedroom, an office, two bathrooms and two regular bedrooms. The building is airtight and watertight, thus rendering you carefree regarding cold and rain. As of now, the service is only available in France, however, there are plans of expanding it to more countries such as UK and US.
