This is probably the world’s most luxurious caboose you have ever seen!
Luxury Caboose “J.J.” has been named after James Jerome Hill, the Empire Builder of the Great Northern Railway, and is truly the coziest and alluring Western retreat.
This caboose is the latest addition to the Izaak Walton Inn’s Luxury Railcar Accommodations and is a great compliment to Montana’s rich flora, fauna, and landscape.
Like Great Northern 441 Locomotive, J.J. is a creative blend of wood, leather, and stone. Walls are made out of aspen and rustic barn wood adorned with recycled chocolate leather furnishings.
In an effort to make it a complete package, kitchen hosts a full refrigerator, gas range, copper sink, and a microwave. The kitchen is fully furnished with lotus granite countertops, glazed hickory cabinetry, and blue pine eating bars.
The bathroom and shower have travertine stone accented walls with green rainforest marble tiles.
The barn wood throughout the caboose flaunts 12 different pieces of antique barbed wire from the late 1800s, the time when Montana officially became a state.
The lone bedroom is made from spalted birch and barn wood, complimented with recycled leather. Adding an aura of Great Northern’s sleeping cars, is the queen size bed covered with a denim duvet and Glacier Park Pendleton and Hudson Bay pillow shams.
J.J.’s roof has been converted into an upper bunk that offers a mesmerizing view of the BNSF mainline, and is accessible by a built-in ladder with handrails.
The caboose is given an elegant touch with the finishing of blue pine and walnut flooring.
