The fastest time ever recorded by a human to solve a Rubik’s cube is 4.9 seconds. Robots, however, can do stuff much more quickly than human beings and this Robot built by software engineers Jay Flatland and Paul Rose can do it in just 1.019 seconds. Now that is FAST!
The robot uses four webcams to keep track of the current situation of the Rubik cube, and you can jumble it up in any way, and still it will be able to do it in record time. The live state of the cube is passed into the processing unit, and it then determines the next move using the famous Kociemba Rubik’s cube-solving algorithm. A small 3-D printed frame swivels and controls the Rubik cube at the right time and in a blink of an eye, it is there entirely solved in front of you.
The previous record was 2.39 seconds, and it has now been broken. But, there is still a wait for an official notification from the Guinness Book of World Records office. So, can you design a system even faster than this?
