Assembling Ikea furniture is really not an easy task. The instructions given are difficult to understand. All the parts are almost the same and the simplest assemblies can require at least three hands to be done accurately. However, it looks like robots have found a solution to this problem.
A team of scientists has trained two robots to assemble the frame of an Ikea chair without facing any difficulty at all. The robot uses their pressure sensors and grippers to handle the material. The 3D cameras can sense what is going on around them. The software in the robot which is putting all these elements to work is performing the rest of the task.
