Hello there, are you single and too afraid to talk to your friend about stepping out of the friend zone? Don’t worry; Facebook Dating has got your back. You can now tell your friend that you have a crush on them using Facebook Dating. However, there is a catch; your crush will only find out if they also feel the same way about you. Secret Crush is the latest tool that was announced today at a Facebook annual company conference.
What does Secret Crush do? It allows you to choose a total of nine friends that you have feelings for and you can send a secret crush notification to any person you like from these nine friends. They will receive a notification telling them that someone out there has a crush on them. If they secret crush you back, you will be notified via Messenger.
This new tool puts your focus back on the people that you are already friends with rather than random people. Facebook insists that you should have something common with these friends such as shared Facebook groups or events. Facebook dating was actually launched at Facebook conference last year, but it is this year that the dating service is slated for an extension to another 14 countries thus bringing the total to 19.
It is currently available in Colombia, Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico with The Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guyana, and Suriname being added this year. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, ‘We want Facebook to be somewhere where you can start meaningful relationships. We’ve designed this with privacy and safety in mind from the beginning.’
Facebook dating stands out from the crowd because once you have clicked on interested on Facebook, you are supposed to send a message to the potential match but a simple hello won’t just make it. You are required to comment on the person’s profile pictures or respond to one of the answers form their profile.
Will Facebook dating ever become a thing with its Secret Crush feature or not? Only time will tell!
