The amazing researchers of YouTube’s Timelapse Vision Inc. channel have brought this footage using a macro lens on a Timelapse camera which zooms into the tiny symmetric lines on fingertips and palm known as epidermal ridges. The sweat ducts of these glands are open at the top, which leads to fingerprints and smudges on the screen when using a smartphone with sweaty hands.
Interesting but utterly gross! So the next time you go “Ewww bugs,” think about how tiny holes in your fingers produce secretions continuously.
