Fancy a swimming pool at the roof of your house? How about having it on a Y-shaped house? Dutch architect MVRDV has been known no stranger for designing oddly shaped buildings, and this Y House project is no exception.

Besides the fact that the house is shaped in the letter Y, its roof also nestles a swimming pool fit for a king. The design is a collaboration of MVRDV with KAI Architects, and its design is aimed at raising the top of the house higher than the others around it.

The “Y” shape of the structure also gives room for sizeable gardens around the base, along with accommodating a living space and a dining room.

The 330-sq m (3,550-sq ft) single-family weekend home has changing rooms located in the upper portion of the Y, and below it are two two children’s bedrooms, a master bedroom, and a guest bedroom.

This spacious building also has a “tea room” designed to entertain guests at the base of the building. An elevator compliments the stairs to access the rooms, while circular windows of all sizes give adequate lighting to the building.

The feng shui based building is built in Tainan, Taiwan’s beach. And will be part of the development for the weekend retreat for the workers in the city.
