Star Trek fans know what a replicator is and those of you who don’t; please watch Star Trek, will you? An Israeli firm claims to have come up with a food ‘replicator’ that is capable of creating almost any dish within 30 seconds. Known as Genie, it is quite similar to the appearance and size of a coffee maker. It can create an unlimited variety of meals by making use of pods which have natural dehydrate ingredients.
The gadget is controlled via its app and creates meals in portions of 140g into containers that are recyclable. It has been created by Ayelet Carasso and Doron Marco from White Innovation Company. It will cost around $1,000 once it goes on sale.
Carasso explains, “The dish can be anything, it can be a meal like chicken with rice, like couscous with vegetable or an amazing Ramen or even a chocolate soufflé or any other desert that you want. We’re using only natural ingredients, we’re not using any preservatives or anything that people add to their meals.”
The user has to simply a push button the app and the machine stirs to life. It will mix, shake and add any required liquids from the tubes that have been attached to the machine’s back, thus allowing to it cook/bake at optimum temperatures. The idea was born after the duo struggled to find restaurants late at night when they were working on a project. Team is currently working on expanding the capabilities of the mobile application. Marco who is 47 years old says, “Eventually, Genie will know your micro-biome and will prepare the pod for you, just for you and you will eat better, even tastier and healthier. In our world, we are getting fat and we are throwing away a lot of food, in their world, they don’t have any food. So if you use Genie, you can distribute the food better, you can have the shelf life much longer without the preservatives, give the people better food for them. We can even the food distribution in the world. That’s a very, very important goal for us.”
The gadget will cost about several hundred IS dollars. According to the company, the pods shall be priced at a comparable price of snack, meal or dessert. Marco and Carasso and right now busy with mass production and hope that they will be able to start the mass production much sooner than what they had in mind.
