In the heart of Nanjing, a city in China, the architect Buro Ole Scheeren has proposed an innovative model of a building that will blend green environment, sustainability, and a modern touch, along with traditional approaches and innovation. It is located in the contemporary urban center of Jiangbei District with eight bays that are rotated diagonally, forming an octagonal structure. The tower is going to create history through its exceptional and unparalleled design configuration. It has a height of about 1148 ft (350 m), which makes it fall into the category of the world’s top buildings. The greenery on each of the eight chunks of the eight bays represents its sustainable and environmentally green nature.
The vast portion of the building will be left for office use. However, at the top of the building, there is a luxurious hotel with a pool, a restaurant, and a beautiful small garden, thereby giving breathtakingly beautiful views from there. “Nanjing Nexus is a building that investigates how modern architecture may absorb, and in fact, intensify, historical context and significance by integrating the traits of the past with the needs of a future-oriented workforce inside the verticality of a super-tall office skyscraper. Apart from its physiognomy, these concave surfaces serve another purpose as well, which directly contributes to the environment. Through their design, they are responsible for reducing the wind loads on the building that might affect its structure, making its solar performance go through the roof, i.e., boosting it through these durable design characteristics and reflecting light against the river’s waves and ripples that are in front of the building. This Nanjing Nexus design of the building has been ranked in the bible of winning buildings as it endeavors to make the connection between past strategies and the challenges as well as the growth prospects of the future, thus making the present a better place to live in. There is also a bystander, or we should call it a next-door neighbor, of this tall building, which is standing adjacent to it at 100 m, and these two buildings together represent a hallmark in Nanjing’s city to attract future investors.
