This Is The World’s Deepest Hotel – And It Lets You Sleep 1,375 Feet Underground

A one-of-a-kind hotel has recently opened in the UK, offering an extraordinary experience for adventure-seeking individuals. Named The Deep Sleep Hotel, this remarkable establishment is nestled 400 meters below the surface in a Victorian mine beneath the awe-inspiring mountains of Snowdonia, also known as Eryri National Park, in North Wales.

Considered the “world’s deepest hotel,” it provides an unprecedented opportunity for guests to spend a night in the depths of history and nature. It comprises four private twin-bed cabins and a romantic grotto with a double bed, available for booking once a week, specifically on Saturday nights through to Sunday mornings. Situated a remarkable 1,375 vertical feet (419 meters) beneath the towering mountains of the national park, the hotel’s rooms offer a truly unique and immersive experience.

Visitors must embark on a captivating journey through an abandoned Victorian slate mine to access this underground accommodation. Led by an experienced trip leader, guests navigate through ancient miners’ stairwells, traverse old bridges, and engage in exhilarating scrambles. Along the hour-long trek, an instructor provides fascinating historical information about the surrounding environment. Prior to the descent, guests are equipped with a helmet, light, harness, and boots, ensuring their safety and comfort during the journey.

Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed with a warm drink and provided with essential information. “Then it’s time to relax for the rest of the evening. We’ll provide you with a complimentary expedition-style meal, with meat, vegan, and vegetarian options available, to enjoy at our large covered picnic table. Then you are welcome to retire to your bed for a very deep sleep,” the hotel’s website states.

For those interested in reserving a night at The Deep Sleep Hotel, prices start at £350 (approximately Rs 36,003) for a single-night stay in a private cabin for two. The romantic grotto experience is priced at £550 (approximately Rs 56,577). These rates provide guests with an unforgettable adventure and an opportunity to create lasting memories.

The following morning, guests awaken to a warm drink and simple breakfast snacks, preparing for the arduous ascent back to the surface and daylight. The hotel’s information states, “Your party can expect to be back down to the cars around 10 am – 10:30 am, roughly.”

According to Mike Morris, the operations manager, guests who have experienced a stay at The Deep Sleep Hotel have been enthralled by their unique underground adventure. They appreciate the hotel’s distinctiveness, the camaraderie formed during the evening, and the sense of being far away from civilization. However, the most notable feedback has been about the exceptional quality of sleep experienced by guests. Many claim to have had the best night’s sleep, surpassing even the comfort of their homes.

It is worth mentioning that the hotel’s operator, Company Go Below, commenced its operations in April 2023, welcoming guests to this extraordinary underground accommodation.

The Deep Sleep Hotel offers an unparalleled opportunity for guests to delve into the depths of a Victorian mine and spend a night in unique underground cabins or a romantic grotto. The combination of historical charm, breathtaking surroundings, and a sense of seclusion from the modern world creates an unforgettable experience for adventurous individuals seeking a remarkable getaway.
