This Is The Fastest Street-Legal SUV In The World – And It’s Made By Brabus

Brabus Claims 900 Rocket Edition Is World’s Fastest SUV

Brabus may have just stolen the Monaco Yacht Show—with an SUV.

The company just unveiled the 900 Rocket Edition, which it claims is the world’s fastest street-legal crossover, with a top speed of 205 miles per hour (330 kilometres per hour).

How can you boost the performance of one of the most competent SUVs on the market? If you’re Brabus, you overhaul your engine from scratch. According to Motor1.com, the tuner boosted the engine displacement from 3,982 cc to 4,407 cc. In addition, the vehicle has been upgraded using Larger forged pistons, longer forged piston rods, and a billet crankshaft. The other modifications are turbos with larger compressor units, a new fuel pump, and larger downpipes leading to a stainless-steel exhaust system.

The 900 Rocket Edition is based on the Mercedes AMG GLE 63S Coupe and has 900 horsepower (662 kilowatts) and 774 pound-feet (1,050 Newton-meters) of torque. Thanks to all of that muscle, the crossover can hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometres per hour) in 3.2 seconds. The engine can produce 922 lb-ft (1,250 Nm), but Brabus modifies it to safeguard the driveline components.

The vehicle’s powertrain has been modified, including replacing original turbos with larger compressor units and stronger axial bearings. In addition, fuel pumps n updated have a higher delivery rate. Larger downpipes are 2.9 inches (75 millimetres) in diameter and connect to a stainless steel exhaust system via titanium and carbon fibre finishers.

The vehicle’s powertrain isn’t the only thing that’s been overhauled. Various carbon fibre components, an exposed finish, and a set of 24-inch forged wheels with carbon discs have been added to the outside. Similarly, the suspension has been replaced with a “BRABUS Airmatic Sports Unit” that can squat the car down by a total of 25 mm (1 in) to reduce drag.

Carbon wraps the vehicle, only a few Mercedes emblems remain. The vehicle is boxy, sturdy and fierce. Brabus has spared no expense when it comes to anything that appears to be silver in the cabin. Everything has been coated in a fiery “rocket red” that pelts your sight with joyous splashes of rage from every angle.

If the extreme version of GLE 63 S Coupe has piqued your interest, move immediately. Unfortunately, Brabus will only produce twenty-five 900 Rocket Editions, each of which will cost US$446,000 (€381,243).
