Tesla Did Indeed Design An Aquatic Car Inspired From James Bond

How many of you are James Bond fans? We all have been star-struck when it comes to the famous shaken martini drinker and a license to kill Bond 007. A famous scene from ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ starring Roger Moore shows James Bond ending a car chase with his car jumping into the ocean from a pier. The car, however, transforms into a submarine, and our beloved hero is able to get out of harm’s way. As it happens, Tesla has a design for something similar; an aquatic car.

The subject was brought up during Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting where Elon Musk stated that the company was on its way to make a ‘record quarter’. It was during this meeting that was held at Mountain View, Calif that a shareholder asked Musk if Tesla had considered making an aquatic car similar to James Bond’s ride that could not only travel on the road but also become a submarine if the need arises?

As it happens, the famous electric vehicle company had actually created a design that was inspired by James Bond’s Lotus Esprit submarine car. Musk responded by saying that it was feasible for coming up with a functional version; however, he did point out that ‘the market for this would be small — small, but enthusiastic.’ He also stated that he thought it was the coolest thing ever!”

Musk suggested that working on an aquatic car similar to Bond’s submarine car would distract him from his other work comprising of Tesla, SpaceX, and the Boring Company. However, he did hint that Tesla might create such an aquatic car as a show car in the future.  What do you think about this? Should Tesla work on an aquatic car? If so, do you think there’s a viable market available for such a vehicle? Or do you think it is best if such a vehicle is only made as a show car and that’s all? Do let us know!
