This Airplane-Shaped Handbag Costs ‘More Than an Actual Airplane’

Yes, it is something from Louis Vuitton, how else would it be so expensive? It isn’t even an airplane but just an airplane shaped bag and knowing the price tags on Louis Vuitton items, the bag costing more than an actual single-engine Airplane doesn’t surprise me one bit. The problem is, it should.

The new bag has been designed by Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s menswear artistic director. It is part of this year’s men’s collection but why would you need an Airplane shaped bag?

As expected, the bag went viral because it costs more than what an actual airplane would cost. The bag was unveiled in January, in Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter collection 2021. The collection contains a lot of eccentric ideas for clothing including clothes inspired by architecture and landmarks but no the people want to know what the deal is with the airplane bag.

The bag has been named the ‘Keepall’ bag and it is a keeper if you’re into weird fashion accessories. It looks like a miniature model of an Airplane with two wings and two turbines on each side. The design leaves a lot to be desired but Abloh’s works have always been criticized by half audience and loved by the other half.

The bag costs about $39,000 and the joke started when a Twitter user compared the price with a used single-engine airplane and found that the actual plane was cheaper.

Abloh talked about his design, discussing the tourist vs purist while saying that “It’s my organizing principle for my point of view when I make things. A tourist is someone who’s eager to learn, who wants to see the Eiffel Tower when they come to Paris. The purist is the person who knows everything about everything”.

$39,000, you can buy a Tesla for less.
