Chinese scientists have achieved a groundbreaking milestone by creating a three-carat diamond that only utilizes carbon components from red peonies. It was unveiled in Luoyang, Henan Province, China, and given to the Luoyang National Peony Garden by Luoyang Time Promise Co., a maker of artificial diamonds.
Luoyang Time Promise Co. CEO Wang Jing said, saying, “The diamond is worth 300,000 yuan. It is made from peony by applying our biogenic carbon extraction method, after which it is heated to high pressure and cultivated.”
Although turning carbon components from peonies into diamonds is complex, the Chinese company revealed that a specific tool extracts carbon elements from various materials, such as hair, bones, and flowers. This equipment allows carbon atoms to break their chemical bonds and then recombine to create a diamond structure, which finally results in the creation of the real diamond.
This unique method opens the door for future developments in gemstone synthesis technology and highlights the creativity of Chinese scientists who use unusual sources to manufacture diamonds.
