The people who fuss most with memory cards are media professionals who never have enough space for the HD shoots. Lexar has good news for all of them. The capacity of new CFast Card is twice to that of the previous 256GB Professional 3500x CFast 2.0

Aimed for filmmakers, photographers, and cinematographers, the new 3500x Fast card offers a write speed of 445 Mb/s and transfer speed of 525 Mb/s. The previous 256GB Professional 3600x CFast 2.0 from Lexar, which was explicitly built for ARRI motion picture cameras, will also get an upgrade later.

The card is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2017. It comes with a crazy price of US$1,700. Most consumer cameras do not accept CFast cards, so the high price is not a surprise. Amazingly, all Lexar Professional CFast cards come with a lifetime copy of Image Rescue software, allowing the user to recover most photo and some video files from the card even if the card has been corrupted.

The product marketing director at Lexar, Jennifer Lee, announced the great news for cinematographers saying, “When shooting 200 FPS on a high-end, production-level camera, it’s easy to fill up an entire 256GB card with content in just 17 minutes. Comparatively, the new Professional 512GB 3500x CFast 2.0 card can capture up to more than twice that time.”
