The latest addition to such gadgets is the Podo – a rather small wireless camera that can connect to and be controlled by smartphone while being able to stick onto any surface.Podo Wireless Camera – Selfie Time 4

Podo has already launched its Kickstarter campaign and has managed to raise $76,000. The goal was to raise $50,000 and there are still 6 weeks remaining in the campaign. The selling point of the device is to let users capture more with a selfie without stretching their arms out.

The camera measures 5.1 x 5.1 x 2.54 cm while weighing only 51 g. It has been designed so that it can be easily slipped into a backpack or pocket to facilitate carrying. It has a micro-suction pad located on its back which can keep the camera in place on any solid surface. The backing has been affixed to the body of camera through a hinge that adjusts the lens’ angle.

Podo captures pictures at 8MP while shooting videos at 720p/30fps. The camera can pair up with Android and iOS via Bluetooth and requires a companion app for giving control to the user. Users can select which photo mode to use and can take single snaps, burst sequences, double exposure and video mode as well. There is an option to record clips lasting 15 seconds  – optimized for sharing on Instagram. It also supports an Auto mode where Podo is capable of shooting time-lapses and can compile pictures as video or animated GIFs. The app also allows users to control the flash made up of 8 LEDs.

Podo features a storage of 4 GB and uses a 600 mAh battery for power. The company claims that this battery is good enough for 2 hours of video making. It is available in blue and red with early pledges of $79. Shipping has been slated for August 2015 given that all goes well! Would you like to buy one?
