Wake up Twitter influencers, it’s your time to shine!
On Wednesday, Twitter launched a new and exciting feature for people having more than 10,000 followers on their account. The “Super Follows” feature allows eligible users to classify some of their content as “subscription-based”; allowing them to charge people for access to the subscriber-only content.
Don’t get too excited just yet as this feature is only available for people that are based in the U.S and even then, there are certain criteria that have to be met. If you’re under 18 and still reading this through, then we suggest you come back after turning 18 as this feature is only available for people 18 or older. Another important criterion is that you should have at least 10,000 followers on Twitter. If you’re still short on that milestone, then keep trying harder till you hit the mark. So far so good? Here is where it gets a bit tricker. If you’re not active on the social media platform and haven’t tweeted about 25 times in the last 30 days, then you need to create more regular content to keep your audiences engaged and also to be eligible for getting this feature. That sounds pretty easy right?
If you ticked the green box for all the qualifications above, then you can easily apply for the ‘subscription based’ feature. Just open your Twitter app and swipe the screen to the right to pull up the menu. At the end you will see an option titled “Monetization”. Click on that followed by clicking on “Super Follows’ which will take you to a new screen explaining how the feature works and how you can earn money from your Twitter account.
After tapping on the “Check eligibility” button, your account would be verified against the regulations mentioned before and then you can apply for it. Twitter would also ask you the nature of your content such as art, gaming or something philosophical and a few words to “describe yourself” to get started.
Since it’s still in the beta phase, the submitted applications will be added to a waitlist but its not sure how long it will take to actually activate this feature. After your application is processed and accepted, you can set your subscription prices as $2.99, $4.99 or $9.99 and start earning from your followers!
