New Video Shows That iPhone 6 Screen Is Almost Indestructible

Apple’s iPhone 6 is enjoying the limelight on Internet these days. Every now and then you would see pictures claiming to be the next design that Apple is using for iPhone 6. However, here is one thing you don’t see every day; A You Tube user struggling with what is, supposedly, iPhone 6 screen acquired from Sonny Dickson and fails to even put a scratch on it. Oh and by struggling we mean; stabbing it with knife multiple times, bending and twisting, scratching it with keys and what not!Indestructible iPhone 6 Screen7

The video reveals that the screen emerges victorious even after being subjected to a lot of abuse and hence, provides some hope to us that the upcoming smartphone by Apple is going to be way more resilient when compared to the predecessors. The video has been released by Marques Brownlee who says that the screen is made from sapphire glass and admits that; ‘I slowly realized there is absolutely no way I can break this display under my own power. The worst blemish on the surface was actually my fingerprint marks and the dust from handling it so much.’

The glass is quite high quality end and Brownlee states; ‘There’s absolutely no color shift while looking through the sapphire glass.’ We already know that Apple used a bit of the Sapphire crystal for the home button and camera lens of iPhone 5S with the rest of the screen made from Gorilla Glass, however, this new screen is made entirely out of it and as Brownlee is ‘paper thin’.

Brownlee can also be seen measuring the screen diagonally and getting a 4.7” result which supplements the rumor that Apple will be releasing two different sizes this time around; one being 4.7” while the other coming in at 5.5”. The reports that Apple is tinkering with Sapphire displays were afloat since last year but soon died with the news that the research proved it  was not feasible to employ Sapphire displays. But with the recent announcement by Apple about installing a mineral plant in Arizona with Sapphire glass experts, GT Advanced Technologies, somewhat supports the argument presented in the video.

GT Advanced Technologies stated; ‘Although the agreement does not guarantee volumes, it does require GT to maintain a minimum level of capacity.’ Whereas, an Apple spokesman was quick to add: ‘We are proud to expand our domestic manufacturing initiative with a new facility in Arizona, creating more than 2,000 jobs in engineering, manufacturing and construction. This new plant will make components for Apple products and it will run on 100 per cent renewable energy from day one, as a result of the work we are doing with SRP to create green energy sources to power the facility.’

Anyhow, enjoy the video and let’s keep our fingers crossed for the iPhone 6 that may very well be able to amaze us!
