Motorola’s Digital Tattoo Will Let You Unlock Your Smartphone With Ease

Smartphones have become a crucial part of our everyday life and life has become really dependant upon them. As is with anything, the next feature that needs to be tackled is that of security and we have seen a number of approaches to smartphone’s security being used; pin code, pattern locks, face detection and the fingerprint scanner. However, with the progress that is being made, it is no surprise to see a better approach to this; the Motorola’s Digital Tattoo.Motorola’s Digital Tattoo will let You Unlock your Smartphone

The gadget was initially aimed for the Moto X users and is essentially a temporary sticker for the skin that can be removed at any time. When the user swipes his/her phone onto the sticker, the smartphone is unlocked automatically and frees the user from the need to enter pin or pattern.

The idea was put forward last year at the ‘All Things Digital Technology Conference’ and is now finally out in the market. The project is a brainchild of Google and VivaLnk and makes use of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology which makes the exchange of information possible wirelessly. The company states that the tattoos are about the size of a coin and have been designed to last for five days and work in shower or even during physical activity. As per Motorola, the gadget will make locking and unlocking of smartphones fast, safe and less stressful.

As per the ad; ‘An average user takes 2.3 seconds to unlock their phone and does this about 39 times a day—a process that some people find so inconvenient that they do not lock their phones at all. Using NFC technology, digital tattoos make it faster to safely unlock your phone anywhere without having to enter a password.’

A pack of 10 tattoos will cost $10. So, are you willing to spend that much (roughly $70 per year) just to save the effort of entering your pin?
