Meta Unveils AI-Powered Subsea Cable Programme To Connect India, US, Brazil And More

Meta has launched Project Waterworth as its leading subsea cable infrastructure project, which aims to improve worldwide connectivity. The project implements artificial intelligence technologies together with machine learning to transform the submarine cable deployment and maintenance process.

Project Waterworth places significant emphasis on India because Meta seeks to improve both the country’s digital economy and infrastructure development. The undersea network extends its high-speed system through leading regions which include the United States as well as Brazil and South Africa to stimulate digital access and economic expansion.

Gaya Nagarajan as Vice President of Network Engineering and Alex-Handrah Aimé, who serves as Global Head of Network Investments at Meta, explained the project would enhance worldwide economic cooperation and advance technological progress.

The central element of Project Waterworth includes its artificial intelligence-based monitoring system that anticipates and prevents network interruptions in advance. The proactive system design will enhance undersea communication systems by improving their efficiency and resilience, thus delivering faster and more reliable internet access.

Meta continues to advance engineering solutions for constructing the world’s longest 24-fiber pair subsea cable, which enhances data transmission capabilities. The company has developed advanced routing methods to place deep-sea cables at depths reaching 7,000 meters while strengthening cable protection in areas where ships and environmental elements cause damage to shallow coastal regions.

Through Project Waterworth, Meta advances international connection technology, which demonstrates its leadership role in building the digital communication systems of tomorrow.
