A newly surfaced image purportedly showing Apple’s first foldable iPhone has provided one of the clearest looks yet at the long-rumored device, suggesting the company is preparing to enter the foldable smartphone market with an unconventional design.
The image, shared by prominent leaker Ice Universe on Weibo, appears to show the device in a silver finish and reveals a wide-format foldable form factor rather than the book-style or clamshell designs commonly used by competitors. The leaked photo aligns with previously published dummy units and CAD renders that hinted at Apple’s approach to foldable hardware, according to GSMArena.
Previous leaks suggest the device will measure 120.6mm in height and 167.6mm in width when unfolded. The foldable iPhone is also expected to be relatively slim, measuring around 9.23mm thick when folded, although the camera module could increase total thickness to roughly 13mm.
The latest image also appears to confirm two launch colors, Silver and Navy Blue. Unlike many competing foldables, Apple’s first model may arrive without a wider range of color options. The rear camera system is expected to feature two sensors, though specific details about the camera hardware remain unknown.
Industry reports indicate the foldable iPhone remains on track for a September unveiling, potentially alongside Apple’s annual iPhone lineup refresh. Analysts believe the launch could immediately place the company among the world’s leading foldable smartphone manufacturers despite arriving years after rivals such as Samsung Electronics and Huawei helped establish the category.
The device is expected to carry a premium price tag of around $2,000, making it one of Apple’s most expensive consumer products. Initial production volumes may also be limited, potentially restricting availability during the first months after launch.
