Lamborghini Just Created Its First Hybrid Car And Its A Wonder

Even Lamborghini is not able to shy away from electrifying its lineup. Nonetheless, it is not taking the conventional approach to this. The Italian automaker has recently introduced the Sián – also known as flash or lightning in Bolognese dialect. The Sián is the first hybrid car from Lamborghini focused on raw performance as opposed to eco-friendliness.

The Sián has a 785HP V12 engine along with a 34HP electric motor that delivers immediate response and the most power ever provided by a production Lamborghini. The Sián can go to 62MPH in only 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 217 MPH. It comes with tangible enhancements to the traction force, thus helping it out-accelerate previous cars such as Aventador SVJ.

It also makes use of a noteworthy approach when it comes to energy storage and recharging. Instead of relying on lithium-ion batteries like a majority of hybrids and EVS, the Sián utilizes supercapacitors that are three times more powerful as opposed to batteries of the same weight and three times lighter than batteries that offer the same power. This not only allows to keep the weight of the car down, but it also enables the storage to be fully charged every time you apply brakes. Simply put, you need not worry about losing the hybrid boost when you are completing a lap on the track.

The design is inspired from Terzo Millennio concept from 2017 and features a handful of design cues including Y-shaped headlights and the supercapacitor storage. The only problem with the Sián apart from its high and yet to be disclosed price is that it has already been spoken for; only 63 units will be made and all of them have been sold. Nonetheless, this is a glimpse of what is to come because Europe and other regions are focused on implementing strict emissions and fuel economy targets.
