Ask any cat-owner, and you will know that to make a house-cat workout is the hardest thing you will ever have to do. However, a Korean startup by the name of Pet Ding is claiming that its exercise machine, Little Cat, can help you keep your pet in the best shape even when you are away. The only downside is the fact that the machine costs $1,800.
Pet Ding showed off the smart treadmill intended for cats at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. The treadmill makes use of LED lights for motivating the cats to exercise and allows the owners to check their cat’s activity even when they are away. The owners can also record encouraging notes for the pet. A companion app for the gadget also allows you to set fitness goals for your cat.
The treadmill also sports an auto mode that claims to ‘provide the ideal workout program for your cat, and manage workout patterns.’ For users that want to be more involved in the workout of their cat pet, the treadmill also allows the option of controlling the speed of the treadmill.
Although, the treadmill is not the first or only exercise machine intended for pets; it definitely is the first of its kind – using LED lights for encouraging the cats to exercise. A promotional video for the treadmill explains, ‘Inside The Little Cat, there is an LED lamp that follows the movement of the wheel. The cat instinctively follows the light onto The it.’
Your pet cat will remain on the treadmill for as long as it remains interested in catching the LED light that will be moving along the center of the treadmill track. According to Pet Ding, for most of the cats; 10 seconds of working out on the treadmill is more than enough. Fatter cats will have to spend a couple of minutes on the treadmill. The good thing about the contraption is that it is able to calculate the cat’s body mass index automatically and can adjust the duration and speed of the workout based on these two parameters.
The treadmill will be available later this year with a price tag of $1,800.
