Japan Has Created Rideable Rhinoceros Robots – And They Look Absolutely Amazing

At this year’s Japan Mobility Show, tech companies unveiled an impressive array of innovative gadgets and vehicles, signaling a significant shift from the convention’s previous identity as the Japan Motor Show. The event showcased the potential future of personal mobility, featuring a wide range of cutting-edge technologies.

Among the remarkable innovations on display, one standout was the SR-02, a large four-legged walking robot designed by Japanese manufacturer Sansei Technologies. Resembling a hybrid of the iconic AT-AT walker from “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” and a rhinoceros, the SR-02 captured considerable attention.

This prototype, about 11 feet long and slightly over 5 feet wide, can transport up to four passengers. Sansei Technologies originally intended the robot to serve as an amusement park ride, offering riders a thrilling experience with its unique walking motion.

The SR-02 can be operated either remotely or directly by its passengers, providing an exciting level of control and interaction. However, it remains uncertain when or if the SR-02 will become available as an amusement park attraction.

The Japan Mobility Show also featured other notable innovations, such as tiny electric excavators, adorable delivery robots equipped with oversized LED eyes, and off-road vehicles designed for extraterrestrial exploration.
