A $15 Billion Hyperloop Transportation Network Is The Most Ingenious Proposal For Trump’s Border Wall
Trump’s border wall idea still sounds absurd to most of the people, but it will not stop the Trump’s administration from actually building one. Now that the Customs and Border Protection has called for border wall proposals, exciting and innovative ideas are coming up. A cross-disciplinary team from Mexico, known as MADE Collective, has proposed the most ingenious idea for the US-Mexico border wall; a $15 billion Hyperloop called Otra Nation.
The US Department of Homeland Security has estimated that a simple barrier between the two countries would cost around $21 billion. The proposal by MADE Collective not only costs a $6 billion less, but it will also generate tens of thousands of jobs. The transportation network will convert the border into a shared nation with an independent local government. The group has submitted the design to US Customs and Border Protection after the official call for proposals.
“Otra Nation will be listed as an unincorporated organized territory of both countries, allowing citizens the freedom to live and work in harmony,” explain the designers.
The Otra Nation Hyperloop network will spread over 2,000 km (1,250 miles), replacing the existing border fencing. Stations along the entire Hyperloop will allow people to board from both of the countries. Solar farms alongside the network will provide power to the system. Both the construction and the operation of the transportation system can provide equal job opportunities to both US and Mexican citizens. The team has estimated that the proposed Otra Nation will generate $1 trillion in trade.
The designers believe, “The 19th century brought us boundaries, the 20th century we built walls, the next will bridge nations by creating communities based on shared principles of economic resiliency, energy independence, and a trust-based society.”
Customs and Border Protection will soon announce the names of 10 such companies that will be hired by them to build the prototypes of a border wall. Other fascinating ideas for the frontier wall suggested a construction of the bi-national park, solar panel wall, and an Inflatoborder made with plastic bubbles. Images: Otra Nation
