Honda has unveiled a groundbreaking concept bike inspired by Koraidon, the prehistoric dragon Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet, just in time for this year’s Pokémon Day. Koraidon is a dragon-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in the 2022 game, known for its wheel-like limbs that double as flotation devices.
This isn’t the first time Pokémon has collaborated with major automotive companies. Just last year, Toyota Engineering Society developed the “Toyota Miraidon” motorcycle, based on Miraidon, the futuristic counterpart to Koraidon from Pokémon Violet. Now, Honda is taking things even further with an ambitious design that aims to bring Koraidon to life—not just in looks, but in movement as well.

According to Honda’s official press release, the Honda Koraidon concept bike will feature a mode called “Sprinting Build,” allowing it to shift between walking on all fours and standing on two wheels. While that may sound like something straight out of science fiction, Honda plans to make it work using its Riding Assist self-balancing technology, which debuted at CES 2017 and was originally developed through research on the ASIMO humanoid robot.
The bike won’t just balance itself—it will move like Koraidon. Honda has designed it so that the Pokémon’s hands, legs, neck, and even facial features will animate based on speed, creating a dynamic, lifelike effect. The eyes and eyelids will also be programmed to move, adding another layer of realism.
To ensure accuracy, Honda has replicated Koraidon’s exact height and weight—8 feet 2 inches (2.49 meters) tall and 668 pounds (303 kg). The project involved around 40 engineers, drawing from Honda’s Innovative Research Excellence division and its Motorcycle and Power Products businesses. Their goal? To blend Honda’s technical expertise with the dream of making a real-world version of a beloved Pokémon, under the tagline: “Honda’s Devotion Makes Children’s Dreams Come True.”

While it’s unlikely that this Pokémon-inspired motorcycle will ever be mass-produced or available for purchase, lucky fans in Japan will get a chance to see it in person. The Honda Koraidon Project will be on display from March 7 to 9 at the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama in Tokyo. Whether you’re a Pokémon enthusiast or a tech lover, this fusion of pop culture and engineering is an impressive leap into the future of concept vehicle design.
