Electric vehicles are progressively making their way into the tracks of drag racing, and I can assure you that the manufacturers have vowed to bring some exciting machines for us to witness them tearing the tracks apart. More and more motor manufacturers are producing powerful electric vehicles with magnificent acceleration powers, the latest example of which is the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype.
The vehicle check-marked its high-performance mark by lightning through the quarter-mile track only in 8.27 seconds. It is ready to make its initial public run at the NHRA U.S nationals after the release of its first clip of dashing through the tracks.
The electric version consists of four electric motors, which resultingly produces a massive 1,502 horsepower. Ford took assistance from Cascadia Motion in the development of this particular model.
Ford has claimed that while completing the quarter-mile track in 8.27 seconds, their new Electric Mustang was at 168 mph (270 km/h), now that’s called fast!
It comes equipped with “four PN-250-DZR inverters connected to a pair of DS-250-115s, which can give the motors a boost and spinning till a massive 10,000 revs per minute. According to Ford, the electric Mustang runs at 800 volts and up to 700 amps producing its max output of 350 KW.
Global Director of Ford Performance Motors Mark Rushbrook explains, “The Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, and the Mustang Mach-E 1400, gives us great insight into what may be possible in high-performance all-electric vehicles for Ford going forward.” Watch the impressive electric vehicle making its first impression in the video below.
