The Harry Potter alum surprised her fans with the Facebook post detailing that her Met Gala Red Carpet stunner was made with recycled plastic bottles.

Emma Watson was oozing charm on the Met Gala Red Carpet 2016. The theme of the event this year was “Manus x Machine: Fashion in an Age of Technology” and Watson owned the Red Carpet in her creative off the shoulder corset, with a long train and a pair of quirky, wide-legged black trousers.

The dress was a creation of Calvin Klein in collaboration with Eco-Age, an enterprise renowned for offering customised, sustainable solutions.  Though Met Gala is famous for its extravagance, Watson once again depicted her individual flair for style and fashion by opting for a recycled gown fabricated using the yarn from recycled plastic bottles.

The dress of the brunette actress was not only in accordance with the theme of the Met Gala but also demonstrated her commitment to the Green Carpet Challenge, which aims to transform the fashion industry into a sustainable one.

Watson also posed on the Red Carpet with Lupita Nyong, who wore a shimmering green gown, also made from organic fabric.

In her Facebook post, Watson described that the dress was crafted from 3 kinds of material. Nothing was left out and even the zippers and linings of the dress were made of organic silk and cotton. The British star promised her fans to wear the gown again, at least 30 times, before she gave it away.

Commenting on the dress, she stated:

” It is my intention to repurpose elements of the gown for future use. The trousers can be worn on their own, as can the bustier, the train can be used for a future red carpet look… I’m looking forward to experimenting with this. Truly beautiful things should be worn again and again and again. ?#?30wears. I hope you like it! The ultimate #30Wears! ?#?MetGala2016. Being able to repurpose this waste and incorporate it into my gown for the ?#?MetGala proves the power that creativity, technology, and fashion can have by working together.”
