Flying cars seem to be the “thing” these days, from E-hang to PAL-V and Uber to AeroMobil, everyone is racing towards being the first in creating a commercial contraption. But the tech mogul Elon Musk thinks this might be a very bad idea. He revealed this during his TEDTalk at the TED Conference in Vancouver,
“I’m in favor of flying things,” Musk told Chris Anderson. “There is a challenge with flying cars in that they’ll be quite noisy, the wind-force generated will be very high. Let’s just say that if something’s flying over your head, if there are a whole bunch of flying cars all over the place, that is not an anxiety-reducing situation.”
Musk’s statement might be not be directed towards any particular company, but he didn’t take any prisoners when talking about the idea. He added,
“You don’t think to yourself, ‘well, I feel better about today.’ You’re thinking, ‘did they service their hubcap? Or is it going to come off and guillotine me as they’re flying past?’”
Elon has been looking to take down its major competitor, Uber, when it comes to his Tesla Network plan that constitutes of ride sharing using self-driving cars. He gave a similar statement about the idea in a February’s Bloomberg article.
“If anything, we should fly cars underneath of you, like by boring tunnels or something,”
Said the Tesla CEO who has been working on a unique plan of building tunnel roads.
