Musk took to Twitter once again to announce that the first tunnel from the Boring Company will open on 10th December. The tunnel is expected to cover nearly 2 miles, starting near SpaceX’s Los Angeles headquarters in Hawthorne. Last May, Musk announced that the newly completed underground test tunnel under the suburban Los Angeles would offer free rides to the public in a few months. Musk also shared a video of the tunnel on his Instagram account.

The caption of the video stated, “First Boring Company tunnel under LA almost done! Pending final regulatory approvals, we will be offering free rides to the public in a few months. Super huge thanks to everyone that helped with this project. Strong support from the public, elected officials & regulators is critical to success.” The work has been done pretty fast considering that it was last year’s October when Musk revealed the first look at the tunnel. The work is imposing considering that this started as a joke.
Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging…

The process began in December with a single tweet where Musk was venting about the Los Angeles traffic. He also proposed a tunnel-digging machine as a potential solution. This gained him a lot of support from his followers. In January 2017, he tweeted that he is ready to dig a tunnel. Musk was so ambitious that he said he would do this in a month or so. Since the project began, the firm started building eco-friendly bricks and also the flamethrowers. In the last month, the firm also won approval by the Hawthorne City Council to create an innovative and futuristic garage prototype which will connect the passenger cars directly to the underground hyperloop.
Exciting progress on the tunnel front. Plan to start digging in a month or so.

This project is expected to revolutionize the transportation system. The car elevator has been demonstrated already at The Boring Company’s Hawthorne headquarters. Musk also announced recently that it is time to build a giant fighting anime mecha robot. We can hope to see one real soon.
