Who knew an old discarded shipping container could be turned into such a cosy place to live. LOKI Homes, under the general operations of LOKI Box Design has created a modern small-scale residence out of shipping containers and have placed them at the foot of the ski mountain Massif du Sud in Quebec, Canada.

The model home is a testimony to the company’s commitment towards creating affordable and environmentally friendly designs which realise the dream of mainstreaming mobile architecture.

LOKI describes its philosophy and values while referring to the first cargotecture home built, “to satisfy our own purely creative architectural and design ambitions here at LOKI, combined with our deep appreciation and love of the wild. So we built a teeny tiny house, and shipped it all the way out in the middle of nowhere.”

This particular design uses dark timber panels and features large glazed windows and doors enabling great lighting into the interior creating the feeling of spaciousness.

The container is rather rugged and dull from the outside, but in contrast, the interior is very cosy and welcoming. Embellished with white-painted corrugated walls, timber surfaces and covered with soft patterned textiles, this is no less than a contemporary small sized home.

The container has two bedrooms which are located on opposite ends of the structure along with a small dining/living area attached with a kitchenette.

It also has a compact bathroom; and even an outdoor terrace. The amazing LOKI Home prototype is currently available for purchase and rentals.
