Check Out The New Google Campus In California

BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) must have done a really good job designing the previous buildings at Charleston East and London. So much so that Google was impressed with the work and now they have been tasked with designing yet another Google campus.

This campus is planned for Sunnyvale, California and this time BIG does not have to collaborate with Heatherwick studio as it had to do on the two prior projects and will be handling it on their own. The new project comprises of two green-roofed building with long and sloping terraces.

The Google campus in California is named the Caribbean as it is located on Caribbean Drive in the Moffet Park area. The campus will be centered around two similar buildings rising to five stories and having a total floor space of 505,078 sq ft and 537,000 sq ft respectively. The gently sloping terraces will offer access to each floor and the buildings will be topped with partially green roofs. The slopes will also have outdoor gathering spaces and cafes.

The Google campus will serve as the workplace for up to 4,500 Google employees and will have 2,085 parking spaces. These include both underground and above ground. Public transportation, cycling, and shuttle service will encourage the people not to use their own cars.

The campus will focus on energy efficiency and will minimize water usage by planting of native, low-water greenery. The building is slated for LEED Gold (a green building standard). The interiors will have natural daylight lighting them up and there will be some degree of power generated by solar energy along with greywater recycling.

If everything goes according to plan, the campus is expected to be completed towards the end of 2021. Provided that it is a building from Google, we can rest assured that it will give off an environmental friendly vibe and will have a peaceful aura surrounding it.
