While we are automating things as mundane as the toilet, why do we still have to spend minutes scrubbing our teeth with a toothbrush? The world is not so heartless, so a startup called Amabrush just created the first ever automated toothbrush that takes only 10 seconds to do the job with the click of a button.

The general recommended time for brushing your teeth is a minimum of 120 seconds, but Amabrush inventors are trying to save us hours over the years to make your life a tad more productive. The toothbrush comes with built-in microchannels that deliver the toothpaste to your teeth. The 3D arranged bristles on the sides clean the teeth, and the antibacterial silicone kills all the bacteria. The bristles are hard enough to clean the teeth but also soft enough to keep the gums safe.

The recommended time for brushing teeth is a minimum of 120 seconds, but Amabrush creators say, “Even in this 10 seconds, every tooth surface is cleaned longer compared with common toothbrushes. If you brush your teeth for the recommended 180 seconds with a regular toothbrush, every surface gets brushed for just 1.25 seconds. Amabrush brushes all your surfaces for the whole 10 seconds.”

While 10 seconds sounds like a short time, it actually cleans your teeth eight times longer than you would otherwise. The right amount of toothpaste reaches your teeth through a built-in mechanism. The battery lasts for 28 of your toothbrushing sessions before you need to place it on the charging station. Capsules of specially formulated toothpaste go into the hand piece to make sure that the right amount of toothpaste reaches your teeth. Each of the capsules costs  €3 and lasts over a month. The FDA-approved capsules come in three different options: extra fresh (blue), whitening (white) and sensitive (rose – without fluoride). Like your regular toothbrush, it will need replacement every 3-6 months, but each mouthpiece only costs $6.

If you think 10 seconds are not good enough for you, Amabrush offers you to configure the cleaning time through the iOS and Android companion app. You can also set it to different vibration modes like gum massage, whitening, burst mode. You can use the same app to reorder the replacement parts anywhere in the world.

Amabrush is designed to fit all jaws, and if you think your jaw deserves one too, you can fund their Kickstarter that has already been funded over 15 times the goal of €50,000.
