Apple is preparing a new set of artificial intelligence capabilities for its next major software update, with early indications pointing to deeper integration across core system apps. Code discoveries suggest that iOS 27 could introduce at least four new Apple Intelligence features aimed at improving everyday tasks such as scanning, organizing, and managing information directly on the device.
The findings emerged from backend code analysis conducted by developer Nicolás Alvarez and later verified by MacRumors, offering an early look at features still under development. These references indicate Apple’s broader push into AI-powered functionality ahead of its expected announcement at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, according to MacRumors.
One of the central additions appears to expand Apple’s Visual Intelligence system. The feature, which interprets real-world objects through the device camera, may soon allow users to scan food nutrition labels and receive detailed health-related insights. This functionality could connect directly with the Health app, extending Apple’s focus on personal wellness tracking.
Visual Intelligence may also gain the ability to recognize printed contact details. Users could scan phone numbers or addresses from physical materials and instantly save them into Contacts. Apple already supports similar functionality for adding events to Calendar, so this addition would align with existing system behavior.
The Wallet app is also expected to receive enhancements tied to AI recognition. Code references suggest that users will be able to create digital passes by scanning physical items such as event tickets or membership cards. This would streamline access to stored credentials and mirror capabilities already present in competing platforms, where AI interprets and converts scanned information into usable digital formats.
In Safari, Apple is reportedly testing an automated feature that assigns names to Tab Groups. The system would analyze the content of open tabs and generate relevant labels, potentially improving organization for users managing multiple browsing sessions.
While these features are not yet confirmed for release, their presence in Apple’s codebase aligns with reports of a more advanced version of Siri in development. This updated assistant is expected to interact more deeply with apps and system functions, reinforcing Apple’s broader AI strategy.
Apple typically unveils major software updates during its annual developer conference, with public releases following alongside new iPhone models in September. If implemented, these additions could mark a significant step in making AI-driven tools more seamlessly embedded into everyday mobile use.
