After 21 years, Apple has decided to ditch the iPod product.
Since the 7th-generation Nano and 4th-generation Shuffle were discontinued in 2017, the 7th-generation iPod Touch has been the only iPod model available in stores. Unfortunately, it will only be sold while supplies last.
The iPod was first released 20 years ago and quickly became the most popular streaming music device among younger audiences. Since it is Apple’s oldest brand to be phased out, it’s worth noting that the company’s announcement marks the end of an era.
“Today, the spirit of iPod lives on,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
“Bringing it to hundreds of millions of users in the way iPod did impact more than just the music industry — it also redefined how music is discovered, listened to, and shared.”
Jobs proposed the initial iPod in 2001. It was a portable hard drive that allowed you to purchase and keep tunes for a reasonable price. It may not appear innovative in today’s fast-paced modern age, but it was truly innovative when there were only CD players.
“With iPod, Apple has invented a whole new category of digital music player that lets you put your entire music collection in your pocket and listen to it wherever you go,” Jobs said. “With iPod, listening to music will never be the same again.”
iPods were popular for years because OF their small size and classy click-wheel control. According to the company, the product line will be terminated because all of the features and functionalities of the latest iPod are available in iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other products.
From the iPhone to the Apple Watch to the HomePod mini, the Mac, iPad, and Apple TV, users have had an outstanding music experience. Apple Music is the best way to listen to, find, and enjoy music because of its high-end sound quality and support for spatial audio.
