Each year we get a list that ranks the global brand values. This list helps us identify the most valuable brands and helps us discern how the brands are making an impact in the lives of their customers. The recently released list of global brand values shows that Amazon has surpassed Apple and Google, thus becoming the world’s most valuable brand.
Jeff Bezos’ Amazon has overtaken Apple and Google as the most valuable brand in the world at $315.5 billion as per the BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brand ranking 2019. The list has been produced by Kantar – a research firm. Apple is now ranked second in the list at $309.5 billion, whereas Google has managed to secure the third place at $309 billion.
It is important to note that for the last twelve years, Google and Apple have been competing for the number one spot on the list and been trading the first and second place between them. Last year, Google was declared the most valuable brand in the world.
Global head of BrandZ at Kantar, Doreen Wang, said, ‘Amazon’s phenomenal brand value growth of almost $108 billion in the last year demonstrates how brands are now less anchored to individual categories and regions. The boundaries are blurring as technology fluency allow [sic] brands, such as Amazon, Google and Alibaba, to offer a range of services across multiple consumer touchpoints.’
It seems that while Apple has been busy making the Pro Stand – which costs $1,000 – and while Google has been caught in the crossfire of US-China trade war, Amazon has been focused on improving its services and providing more and more customer satisfaction. It should also be noted that like Doreen said, Amazon is winning because it is treating the world as its market and not limiting itself to regions. What do you think?
