Although the video is in Dutch, but from what we’re able to gather, the Dutch police has been testing ways of dealing with drones in case of an emergency. The department has been looking into electronic solutions but is also paying due attention to physical ones that include using nets and trained eagles.

The Dutch police has gained the services of “Guard From Above” – a raptor training company that is based in The Hague – to ascertain if eagles can be used as an anti-drone weapon. The eagles are being trained specifically to identify and take down drones. Once the drone has been snatched from the sky, the eagle will land in a safe area away from people where it will be rewarded for its efforts. The benefit over here is the fact that you won’t have to worry about the drone taking off again while being out of control or it falling on people since birds are amazing at mid-air intercepts and bringing a drone down to the ground without causing any injury to anyone.Dutch Police Will Use Trained Eagles For Taking Down Drones

The video further talks about coming up with a safety system for birds to protect them from incurring any damage during this feat. Once again, it is one of the methods that Dutch Police is utilizing and only in case of emergencies. As per Dutch Police, the tests will go on for a few months after which the institution will decide whether making use of eagles for capturing drones is a feasible idea or not.
