YouTuber Mods Game Boy To Start Mining Bitcoin On It And The Speed Will Astound You

Due to the lack of GPUs in the market right now, making a gaming pc build or even starting to think of mining has been extremely difficult. Gamers can’t even get the cards they want, with bots buying up everything as stock comes out. Even Nvidia’s half-hearted tries of locking BIOS on the RTX 3060 did little to tide away from the mining craze.

Don’t worry though, when there is a will there is a way. If you really want to start mining your favorite cryptocurrency, a YouTuber by the name of StackSmashing has got you covered. Use your old Game Boy and become a mining master. Although it is going to be millions of times slower than a dedicated mining build.

You can watch the video below.

According to the video, all you need is your own Game Boy console, a modified link cable, a Raspberry Pi Pico, and a regular computer. Everything happens on the Game Boy, although it can not connect to the internet, The Raspberry Pico and the Link cable help it connect to a computer running a bitcoin node.

The game boy runs the hashing program using a programmable cartridge (Ah the nostalgia). The game boy is able to mine at approximately 0.8 hashes per second, comparing to the fastest ASIC miners, the game boy around 125 trillion times slower. The memes are already coming through on Twitter.

Do you think this new Game Boy miner may actually be able to free up some GPU stock for the rest of us, who genuinely just want to game? Maybe one day I’ll actually be able to upgrade my toaster.
