A team of Japanese researchers has found a solution to fight the ‘Sumeru hasrasumento’ or ‘smell harassment’. A device called the Tanita ES-100 has been built that tells you how much you are stinking. Tanita is a scale to measure your weight, body fat percentage, body water percentage, muscle mass, physique rating, basal metabolic rate (BMR), daily caloric intake (DCI), metabolic age, bone mass, and visceral fat.
The user needs to turn on the Tanita ES-100 and move the sensor to a part of your body which you think might be stinking. It measures the particulate matter and soon after 10 seconds, the device will display how intense your odor is on a scale of 0 to 10 scale. 0 means you don’t smell, above 5 means you need to take shower and 10 means you do not have any friends.
The scale can go both ways. If you have applied too much deodorant, perfume or body spray, the pocket-sized ES-100 will tell you if you should be more moderate with perfume use. The replaceable sensor can be used 2000 times or a year.
