Yamaha Has Made A Boat Remote

Yamaha is revolutionizing marine control with its latest innovation—a handheld wireless controller that allows captains to command their boats from anywhere on board. Designed as an extension of the Helm Master EX system, this new device simplifies maneuvering, making boating more accessible and intuitive.

Unveiled at the 2025 Miami International Boat Show, the Helm Master EX Wireless Control resembles an advanced version of the Nintendo Wii Nunchuk controller. However, eager boaters will have to wait until Fall 2025 for dealer installations. While pricing details remain undisclosed, upgrading a single-engine boat with the full Helm Master EX system already costs well over $12,000.

Originally introduced in 2020, Yamaha’s modular Helm Master EX system enhanced boating operations with a combination of physical and touchscreen controls. It features an autopilot mode, route-tracking, and an advanced joystick for throttle and steering, making it easier to maneuver multi-engine vessels.

The new wireless remote takes accessibility a step further. Captains can now single-handedly control their boats, making docking and launching significantly more convenient. The remote offers approximately eight hours of battery life, with the option to extend usage by periodically placing it in a charging cradle, which can be installed anywhere on the boat.

Safety remains a key focus. The device is waterproof, buoyant, and equipped with a man-overboard detection system. It can connect to up to eight fobs, two of which are included. If someone falls into the water, the boat will either idle or completely shut down, depending on the situation.
