Chemical-based heating systems have been available for the military for a number of years but such systems haven’t been made commercially available. YABUL Cook plans to change that as they employe those systems into a light-weight silicone device that you can fold up and transport easily.
The product is different from all others as it allows you to put the heating packets in a silicone container that you can roll up. Another nifty feature is the patent-pending pressure cap that keeps the lid in place. That means that steam pressure that would normally blow the lid off won’t happen and you can heat up your food more efficiently.
The chemical heating packs can normally heat water to its boiling point for an excess of ten minutes. YABUL Cook claims to heat it to 97 degrees Celsius. Agreed that the device is a little more limited in its uses than a normal flame-based cooker but, it can be pretty handy in a tricky situation and can effectively heat any foodstuff that can be secured in a plastic zipper bag.
This is the perfect device for short outdoor missions or in case of a calamity. It started as a Kickstarter campaign and has already smashed its goal. You can get your hands on one for $35, which includes 5 heating bags and 5 zipper bags for food and water. The heating bags can only be used once but you can get your hands on more and it will only cost you $26 for 25 bags or $45 for 50 bags. The product is already in its advanced stages of development and shipment could start as soon as next month.
