World’s Largest Aircraft Airlander 10 Completes Its Maiden Flight Successfully

Airlander 10 is the world’s longest aircraft that is all set to change the future of flight. The Hybrid Air Vehicles successfully flew the world’s longest aeroplane for its maiden flight.

This 302-feet-long  aircraft is a hybrid plane designed for long-endurance flights. Airlander 10 took off for its maiden voyage from Cardington Sheds in Bedfordshire. The test flight of the airship lasted only twenty minutes, but it was sufficient to prove that even a massive aircraft can fly on the winds.

It may take quite a while to send Airlander 10 into production. The world’s longest aircraft was originally designed for US surveillance. However, the idea was scrapped later.

HAV plans to manufacture ten mammoth airships annually by 2021. If these plans are realised, the world of aviation will be re-born. Airlander 10 will be designed to stay in the air for up to 5 days.

Potential applications of the aircraft include military recon, communication, and long-distance flights. You can watch the Airlander soaring in the skies in this video:
