The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island which also had the under-sea restaurant has also announced its plans to build the world’s first luxurious underwater villa. The villa is named The Muraka which means coral. The villa will be spacious enough to accommodate nine guests at a time. It will be expanded to two levels and will give an exclusive view of the surrounding sea life while the guests enjoy their holiday experience.

Ahmed Saleen, chief architect, and designer of the undersea residence and director at Crown Company said, “Driven by our inspiration to deliver innovative and transformative experiences to our global travelers, the world’s first undersea residence encourages guests to explore the Maldives from an entirely new perspective below the surface of the sea. Through our rich history of being a trailblazer in innovative luxury hospitality, we are proud to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge design, technology, and architecture.” The villa is expected to be ready in the November of this year. The structure of Muraka adopts advanced aquarium and architectural technologies to achieve the impressive underwater villa status. It has both living and recreational zones above and under the sea level. The idea for the villa was presented by Saleem and has been turned into reality with the partnership of aquarium technology expert Mike Murphy who is a leading engineer at New Zealand based MJ Murphy Ltd.

When it is completed once, the lower half of the Muraka villa will be 5 meters below the surface of the water. This level will have an undersea master suite with a king size bed, double bathroom, undersea lounge area and an expandable curved acrylic dome window which offers 180-degree views of the marine life. There will be an interior spiral staircase which will provide access to the upper level. There is another king size bedroom, twin size bedrooms, two bathrooms, powder room, an integrated living room, open kitchen, bar and dining area which opens onto an outdoor terrace. It is located specifically to get the sunset views. The upper level also has another outdoor relaxation deck which has a private swimming pool, gym, butler’s quarters and private security quarters as well.

The interior design of the Muraka will have complete furnishings to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy the peace and calm of its exclusive location and once in a lifetime holiday experience. Stefano Ruzza, General Manager at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island said, “We are excited to present Muraka’s unique sleeping under the sea experience to our future guests, providing them with an extraordinary seascape of the Maldives from an entirely new perspective.” Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort currently has 50 water villas, 79 beach villas and 21 spa villas with private treatment rooms.
